## About Claude Code

Claude Code is Anthropic's agentic coding tool. It runs in your terminal, in IDEs such as VS Code and JetBrains, and on the web, and works directly in your codebase: reading files, making edits, running commands and tests, and creating commits and pull requests.

Developers use it to build features, fix bugs, refactor, explain unfamiliar code and automate routine engineering tasks. It can be extended with custom commands, hooks and connections to other tools. Claude Code is included with paid Claude plans or billed through the Anthropic API.
